Blast in Nowshera City, 7 including 2 police officer killed 26 injured

Nowshera – A remote control blast has occurred in Nowshera Cantt after the political demonstration of the Awami National Party on Monday. Chief Minister of province Amir Haider Khan Hoti, was chief guest of the program, and was safely away from the blast spot.

According to District Police Officer Mohammad Hussein, unknown terrorists fixed an explosive device in a motorcycle, which exploded after the Chief Minister and his cabinet minister left the area. As a result, seven people, including 2 police officers, were killed and 26 were injured in the blast.

After the blast, police cordoned off the area and the bomb disposal unit, which was also there because of VIP movement, checked the blast spot. According to the officer in charge of the Bomb Disposal Unit, terrorists used 3 kilograms of explosives in the bike and it was remotely detonated.

The injured people were mostly workers of the ANP (political party). Most were visiting Nowshera for the Chief Minister's Program. Awami National Party is now in the government and allied with the Pakistan Peoples Party.

The blast occurred on G.T. road near to Farooq Stadium, which was already blocked by police because of the political demonstration.

DPO Mohammad Hussein talked with the media and said that it’s not a security lapse and because of their security, the terrorists could not enter into the political demonstration, and they were forced to explode their bike on the road.

Most of the injured were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar for medical treatment. Police blocked the main G.T. road till 7.pm because of security reasons.

Minister of Excise Liaqat Shabab visited the spot where blast occurred, and condemned the act of terrorism and said that through these blasts no one threatens the political workers. Minister of Information Mian Iftkhar Hussein also visited the Lady Reading Hospital to check the injured people's condition. After the visit, he talked with the media and said that terrorists live in Nowshera District and we will never lose our patience through these things.

Chief Minister of KP province announced financial support for the killed and injured people in the blast.
